About the role:

The role provides intermediate functional support of product regulatory business processes and related applications. Responsibilities include serving as a team member to solve complex problems and influence decisions, applying fundamental to complex IT principles and practices, and working with IT Leadership and stakeholders to prioritize tasks and outcomes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supports day-to-day regulatory system operations (process & systems).
  • Translates business requirements into functional specifications.
  • Assists in building and supporting solutions to comply with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling) regulations.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on IT-related regulatory processes & concepts.
  • Manages smaller projects, subsets of larger projects; applies a general understanding of business operations as related to regulatory; assists with setting technical standards and business processes, integrates operations across multiple functional groups.
  • Participates in drafting functional specifications, testing, implementing and communicating system changes. Examples of system changes are: software upgrades, bug fixes, and custom enhancements (reports & programs).
  • Responds to a variety of broad/complex questions and concerns from management regarding project requirements, documents requirements, technical standards, and conditions; communicates the status of requests and determines the feasibility of projects including appropriate solutions; documents findings and actions.
  • Represents the IT function as a technical contact, influences local business senior management on technical matters.
  • Interprets and applies department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations; ensures compliance with these areas and demonstrates an understanding of business operations.
  • Delivers results working with 3rd party partners, business partners and global IT personnel.
  • Works under general direction. In addition, works independently and collaborates with peers to determine root-causes and to determine potential options/approaches to providing solutions.

 

Requirements:

  • Three years of progressive information technology experience, including general understanding of IT and business operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent education and experience.
  • Applying fundamental information technology support day-to-day by analyzing problems, determining the root-cause and identifying & applying solutions
  • Prioritizing incoming problems based on the impact and urgency
  • Prioritizing workload to meet service level agreements
    • multiple project assignments (commit dates)
    • day-to-day support issues (impact & urgency)
  • Interpreting, applying and ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Understanding of basic business operations and relationships; preferred understanding of Regulatory processes and related GHS Regulations
  • Experience working with the Wercs regulatory application is preferred
  • Developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with business partners and end-users across organizational lines
  • Gathering, documenting and communicating user functional and technical requirements
  • Ability to establish and build solid team and business relationships
  • Working within a team and matrix environment
  • Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
  • Intermediate experience writing SQL to query databases is preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
